Holiday Lavender at the Governor's Mansion - A beautiful take on building farm community Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 5 pm PST/8 pm EST (duration is approximately one hour) Speaker: Kathleen (Kathy) Landrum with Top o'the Lake Lavender
This presentation features USLGA member, Kathy Landrum, of Top O' The Lake Lavender Farm, Readfield, ME using lavender to decorate the Blaine House Museum and Governor's Mansion in Augusta Maine during the Year-End Holidays.
About Kathy Landrum
With a lifelong interest in gardening, Kathy was completely taken by the lavender farms she and her husband Mike visited, on their honeymoon decades ago in the Pacific Northwest.
The dream was not realized, until moving to Maine, after living and working in New Zealand. They both had lavender in mind when they purchased their house in Readfield in 2012 and began planting in 2019. The necessity of flexibility continues…with a few hundred Phenomenal, Munstead, and Sensational varieties planted in mini-fields and raised beds.
Kathy also enjoys serving as the office administrator for her husband‘s physician practice, activities with the Kennebec Valley Garden Club, developing community pollinator gardens, teaching, and creating gifts for their “specialty farm”.
Kathy completed the Maine Master Gardener Volunteer course in 2011, then obtained an International Permaculture Landscape Design Certification in 2016, while living and working in Colorado.
