This is the first regional event for Region 11 - NorthEast. Diane and David Allen from Lavenlair Farm have agreed to host a Spring meeting at their farm in Fort Ann, New York. Dr. Lily Calderwood, PhD of Cornell University will be our guest and discuss the study of hardy lavender varieties for the northeast that she is currently conducting on Lavnenlair Farm. She will also discuss pest management for lavender, Phytophthora and take questions about growing lavender in our region. The Allen's will give us a tour of their farm and share their journey in starting their lavender business as well as their own experience with Phytophthora. The meeting will be held on Saturday March 18 from 10 am to 4 pm. The event will have a northeast focus but is open to any USLGA member who would like to attend. Please respond to our invitation of USLGA Facebook event if you plan to attend. This is also a great opportunity to enjoy to explore the Lake George/Saratoga Springs/Vermont region near the farm. You can look on airbnb.com for lodging, try a wonderful bed and breakfast called The Station House http://www.stationhousebb.com) in Granville or stay at The Queensbury Hotel (http://thequeensburyhotel.com) in Glens Falls (an historic hotel in the area). Depending on how many attendees are staying over Saturday evening, we can organize a dinner and night out if people feel to keep visiting.
